Commissioned development of prototypes of automotive battery pack
What led to the introduction of the service?
The client had decided to develop an in-vehicle battery pack and was looking for a company to who they could outsource design of battery pack housing, making of the cell module for the lithium-ion battery, and evaluation of some of the prototypes. The automotive battery pack they were developing was to be installed in a prototype vehicle.
Issues before introduction
The client’s development staff were stretched thin and not able to accommodate the development of automotive battery packs. In addition, there was demand internally to consolidate outsourcing partners as much as possible. Because of this, they were searching for a company that could handle not only partial outsourcing, but also a wide range of components including housings, cooling channels (air and water), harnesses, battery modules, and junction boxes.
Examples of use after introduction
The client successfully installed the prototype battery pack in the prototype vehicle and completed the performance evaluation.
Specific design details
Various meetings, document preparation, DR, etc. will be conducted as needed.
Effectiveness and achieved results
The prototype we delivered met all of the criteria set out by the client, and they were able to conduct tests using the prototype vehicle as originally planned. The development process proceeded swiftly: 1.5 weeks for confirmation of specifications and quotation, 1.5 weeks for housing design, 8 weeks for detailed design and analysis, and 3 weeks for drawings and documentation. As out specialized departments kept in close contact with the client, they were able to achieve a development process they were satisfied with. In addition, we used our proprietary analysis technology for design evaluation, which led to the early resolution of issues.
