Development of battery temperature control system using MATLAB®

What led to the introduction of the service?

In order to outsource the development of the battery temperature control system, the client was looking for a company that had a lot of experience in developing with MATLAB®. Seeing our knowledge of Model-Based Development, including plant model creation and control model creation with MATLAB®, the client reached out to us.

Issues before introduction

Although the client had completed the specifications for the battery temperature control system, they asked us to provide a one-stop service, from modeling to delivery of deliverables, in order to reduce development costs by modeling the specifications, creating test cases, and building and verifying the Model In the Loop (MIL) Simulation environment.

Examples of use after introduction

We started off with modeling of the heat exchange among the various elements involved in battery temperature regulation (battery, radiator, chiller, water jacket, etc.). This made it possible to conduct verification repeatedly in a MIL Simulation in case the specification of each element is modified. In addition to creating models, we also created test scenarios and verified the results.

Effectiveness and achieved results

We developed a battery temperature control system and was able to repeatedly verify and feed back in a MIL Simulation, which greatly contributed to improving the accuracy of the control design specifications. In addition, the introduction of Model-Based Development (MBD) helped to reduce the client’s development costs.
