Consulting for rear-seat control development using MATLAB®
What led to the introduction of the service?
The client was developing an in-vehicle Electronic Control Unit (ECU) for controlling all the rear seats of an automobile was considering the introduction of Model-Based Development (MBD) in order to reduce the number of prototypes and improve development efficiency. Therefore, we were requested to provide consulting services by leveraging our expertise in MATLAB® products and tools.
Issues before introduction
As this was a new venture for the client, they did not have the knowledge or know-how of development environment’s using Model-Based Development and did not know how to collaborate with related departments. They requested consultations for the entire development process, including tool selection, modeling of control specifications, testing and verification, and specification feedback. Specifically, we provided comprehensive development support from requirement specification to modeling.
Examples of use after introduction
We provided detailed consultations for the development support for modeling of control specifications and the client used MATLAB® to create a model that collectively controls the car's interior illumination, motorized shades, and power seats. In addition, through repeated model validation and feedback, we were able to make a process for creating implementable control specifications. As well, we successfully provided support for smooth development in cooperation with related departments.
Effectiveness and achieved results
We were able to demonstrate the effects of implementing Model-Based Development and the client is now considering shifting to product development using MBD in the future.
Integrated control for Rear seats
