What led to the introduction of the service?

The client was looking into developing a vehicle-type mobile robot (transport robot) with variable axles that could drive on uneven ground such as stairs and inclines. It was necessary to combine multiple motors, brakes, and clutches for a mechanism to run on rough ground, and implement a mechanism to dynamically control the robot using sensors.

Issues before introduction

The client’s little knowledge on the development of mobile robots was a challenge. They were concerned about whether they could develop the product, from designing and developing the board to completing the prototype, on their own. So, they began looking for a company that they could outsource all the control (control software development and UI application development), mechanical (casing creation and assembly), and electronic parts (circuit design and system configuration study) to.

Examples of use after introduction

The client and we developed a prototype of a mobility robot with an uneven ground running mechanism that met the required specifications. And the client was able to start running tests successfully.

Effectiveness and achieved results

Since we were able to provide a one-stop service that included board design (power supply boards and control boards) to system configuration and harness production, the client was able to compensate for their lack of development knowledge. We also conducted verification and examination after the mechanical casing was assembled and the control software was implemented. The client was more than pleased with the fact we were able to quickly solve problems that they had not initially anticipated, such as control methods and mechanical layout.
