What led to the introduction of the service?

The number of EOL products had been increasing rapidly due to the reorganization of parts manufacturers and the trend toward production rationalization, causing the client to be unable to keep up. While they were considering how to handle EOL products, the deadline was approaching and if no measures were taken, they would have had to stop production. Considering the relationship of trust with their customers, the company came to the conclusion that they should quickly move to deal with the EOL products rather than discontinue production.

Issues before introduction

The client wished to use their in-house designers for new development rather than EOL support. So they were looking for a company that could provide them with a one-stop service, from preliminary research of EOL to finding alternatives and communicating with related vendors.

Examples of use after introduction

They reached out to us and we were able to provide one-stop EOL support for a variety of mass-produced products, including medical devices, in-vehicle components, and kitchen and bathroom products. As a result of conducting interviews with each of the client’s departments and implementing aggregated EOL support for similar parts, we also succeeded in lowering their costs per part. We were also able to provide the preparation of documents and forms, including a modified parts list and a comparison of alternative product characteristics, necessary for explanations to their customers.

Effectiveness and achieved results

We were able to respond flexibly even when the client did not have all the information in advance, such as not having the latest design bill of materials to consider alternative elements. In addition to the selection of alternatives, we were also able to provide the redesign of parts related to EOL. The miniaturization of electric boards, including chip resistors and chip capacitors, was also achieved.
