Example of cross-sectional inspection service
What led to the introduction of the service?
The client wanted to conduct a cross-sectional inspection of a sample to check internal conditions unobservable from the outside. This required a primary goal of being able to closely examine cracks in the solder and welded parts of electronic components, measure the coating thickness of paint parts, and measure the fused areas of metal parts for quality evaluations.
Issues before introduction
The cross-sectional inspection of electronic board elements requires the preparation of accurate cross-sectional samples through polishing, which took considerable time and effort at the client’s company. Microscopic inspection of cracks and voids in welds and visual confirmation of solder fillets were also putting extra burden on the on-site work and were one of the efficiency issues raised internally.
Examples of use after introduction
By introducing the cross-sectional inspection service, the client eliminated the time and effort required for cross-sectional fabrication and analysis, leading to faster product development. In addition, they were able to check the internal conditions of a variety of parts, from electronic parts to painted parts, using the equipment that are suitable for each evaluation purpose we own including manual polishing machines, automatic polishing machines, precision cutting machines, microscopes, and metallurgical microscope.
Effectiveness and achieved results
By delivering precise measurement results based on our extensive knowledge in cross-sectional inspection, we were able to shorten the client’s cross-sectional inspection process, enabling the speedy and early detection of factors that lead to failure and which can't be observed from the outside.
