Simulation of the location of communication antennas to be installed in tunnels
What led to the introduction of the service?
The client was developing software to simulate the location of communication antennas to be installed in tunnels. In order to create the tunnel shape data to be input into the software, they were considering whether it would be possible to develop a program that uses MATLAB® to create a 3D display of the tunnel interior and a plot of the radio range. In addition, although development itself would be done in MATLAB®, they wanted the deliverable to be in the same C-based program as the software being developed.
Issues before introduction
Although the client had been developing in C, they lacked knowledge of how to develop in MATLAB®. Therefore, they reached out to us as we could do both development in MATLAB® and conversion of the deliverables to C.
Examples of use after introduction
The client was developing a program in C to create shape data based on the results of field measurements of tunnels. The created shape data was first converted to MATLAB® format, before the shape was checked by 3D plotting and verifications and feedback were carried out in a newly built development environment.
Confirmation of tunnel shape data
・Simulated communication (radio waves and antennas) in tunnels
・Prepared tunnel shape data to be input into a dedicated simulation tool, checked the shape using a MATLAB 3D plot, and delivered the shape data and shape data creation program
Effectiveness and achieved results
Since the conversion from MATLAB® to C is possible, the deliverables were delivered as C-based programs while the development was done efficiently using MATLAB®. As the test scenarios and verification results were delivered together with the shape data creation program itself, we were able to support the client to enable them to carry out future development more efficiently.
